Bobcats assistant coach arrested after bar fight

So about that culture change ... yeah, this wasn't what I was hoping for.

Brian A. Westerholt

Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach Bob Beyer was arrested late Thursday night in upstate New York after he was involved in a bar fight, police said.

Saratoga Springs police charged Beyer with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest after he tried to intervene with police taking one of the men into custody.

Beyer is one of four Bobcats assistant coaches, accompanying Mark Price, Stephen Silas and Bob Weiss. Before joining the Bobcats, Beyer was an NBA assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors (2012-13), the Orlando Magic (2007-12) and the Toronto Raptors (2003-04). He was also a head coach at Siena College.

The Bobcats have been trying to completely shift away from the negative image the team has had on and off the court in recent years, from Tyrus Thomas vs Paul Silas ('The Cable Boxing Match of the Century') and Ben Gordon vs Mike Dunlap (Malice at the Practice). The renaming of the team, devotion to shifting the culture and improving the team for years to come should hopefully help leave this memory in the dust.
