Bobcats "deep into talks" with Lakers for Jordan Hill

Via ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne, the Bobcats are one of three teams engaged in trade negotiations with the Lakers for power forward/center Jordan Hill.

The other two teams are the Nets and the Pelicans, Shelburne says, and it seems likely Hill will be moved before the deadline tomorrow at 3 p.m. EST.

Hill's been an intriguing frontcourt role player for the Lakers, at times starting for Los Angeles when injuries left Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman sidelined. A talented rebounder, Hill has grabbed an estimated 14.2 percent of available rebounds on the offensive glass. Though he's no Kareem, Hill is decent on offense, too. Hill, at this point in his career, is an apt fit as a backup center.

It's not clear what the Lakers would want in return, though a draft pick or young talent is a safe bet. Hill is in the last year of his contract, worth about $3.5 million.
