Stephen Curry thinks about playing for Charlotte later in career

In a recent radio interview with CBS Sports, Warriors guard Stephen Curry said that he has thought about playing in the city he grew up in -- Charlotte.

Before we talk about this, let's slow down.

Stephen Curry is currently under contract until 2017 with the Golden State Warriors. While it's always fun to speculate about the future, Curry is years away from even considering to play for the Hornets, and, quite frankly, he's in a great situation in Oakland.

Anyway, Curry sat down with CBS Sports' Doug Gottlieb on August 6, and was asked if LeBron's decision to play for his hometown after a brief, successful stint in Miami made him think about playing where he grew up -- Charlotte. Curry was reserved and professional, but admitted that he's given it a bit of thought and remembers his days in Charlotte fondly.

"I’ve always had thoughts about what it would be like playing at home and what it would be like. My dad played there for 10 years and people around the greater Charlotte area, North Carolina did a lot for my family growing up. So you always think about it. Right now I feel like I have three years left on my deal so this won’t even be an issue for me for awhile.

I love the Bay Area and where we are as a team – trying to win a championship, that’s what it’s all about. Of course everybody dreams about or thinks about what it’s going to be like to play at home. And obviously if that opportunity comes along it’s a different discussion."

In some way, everyone wants to do what they love from the place they call home. Winning it all with the people who made you who you are is a great feeling. However, most of us aren't fortunate enough to make that decision until much later in our lives, and Curry's situation is no different. He's doing very well with the Warriors, who are a perennial contender with a loaded starting five.

The summer of 2017 might be interesting for Charlotte if things change.
