Quickcap: Charlotte Hornets lose to Miami Heat 105-100

The Hornets had a chance but they couldn't capitalize. This is likely the real end to their playoff hopes.

The Hornets had the game tied at halftime and were playing very well for the most part. There were even moments of legitimate offense, with multiple drive and kicks and plenty of layups. However, there was also plenty of mindless jump shooting, which ultimately what killed the Hornets' chance of winning in Miami for the first time in ten games.

Kemba Walker and Mo Williams combined to go 12-for-37 or less than 33 percent. There were period of offense where it was just these two guys dribbling up the floor and jacking long range jump shots. A lot of these shots came when the Heat's only shot blocker, Hasaan Whiteside was in foul trouble. The team finished with a very poor 12 assists.

On the defensive side, the team looked very solid when Bismack Biyombo was manning the paint. In fact, whenever the Heat ventured into the restricted area, he was there to affect the shot. He finished with 12 points, 2 assists, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals, and six free throw attempts. However he did not wear his mask, but this tweet is still gold (self promotion aside).

The game may have been different if Gerald Henderson wouldn't have gotten in foul trouble (on some questionable calls against Dwayne Wade). He finished with a game high 29 points and was a very efficient 11-for-18 from the field.

The Hornets have to travel back to Charlotte for a game against Toronto tomorrow night.
