Standings Update: Hornets remain in 11th place, three games back of eighth place

The Hornets already bad playoff odds got worse following Wednesday's loss to the Toronto Raptors.

With the Charlotte Hornets' 74-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Hornets remain in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, but will fall three games back of eighth place after the Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons.

The 10th place Indiana Pacers also played tonight, and as of this moment are beat the New York Knicks by 20. Assuming they hold on to win, they will hold a two game lead over the Hornets. If they beat New York, they will be winners of three straight. Eighth place Boston is 5-5 in their last ten games, while the Pacers are currently 4-6.

The Hornets have four games remaining before the start of the NBA Playoffs. They still aren't mathematically eliminated, but they would to win out, while needing Boston, the Miami Heat, and the Pacers to lose their remaining games. In other words, it's all over. Their next game is Friday against the Atlanta Hawks on the road. The Hornets beat the Hawks the last time they met, but Atlanta rested all five starters for that game.

It's looking like Charlotte will finish 11th in the Eastern Conference, which, based on the standings of both conferences, would give them the 9th best odds in for the upcoming lottery.
