Here we go.

The NBA Draft lottery is less than an hour away. The Charlotte Hornets, currently projected to have the ninth pick in the upcoming draft, have a 1.7 percent chance of nabbing the first overall pick and a 6.1 percent chance of moving up at all.

Those are better odds than you'd think.

On the other hand, the Hornets also have a 12.6 percent chance of moving down in the draft. You can check out our full preview of the lottery here.

Can the Hornets move up? I hope so, and it'll be fun seeing Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's reactions as the picks are slowly announced. The team had a mediocre season mired by injuries and questionable coaching decisions, and it seems like it might be time to build something different. Something better. The draft can help immensely with that, especially when the top picks are all talented big men — a rarity in today's NBA.
