Charlotte Hornets vs Atlanta Hawks GameThread

The Hornets really, really need a win.

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

A few hours ago, Charlotte Hornets wing Nicolas Batum tweeted this:

That's an understatement.

The Hornets are losers of seven straight and 12 of their last 15. The team's been banged up, sure, with Al Jefferson, Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lin, and Spencer Hawes all missing time over the last few weeks. But now, the team is mostly healthy and it's clear that the team's problems are a bit bigger than that. Their commitment to playing defense — especially on 3-pointers — has been shaky, and their own ability to hit shots from deep has been inconsistent, to say the least.

The Atlanta Hawks are good — heck, very good — but they're certainly beatable. This is the same Hornets team that started the season 14-8, after all. The pieces and systems are the same. Whatever's changed has happened individually and internally. Morale is low, and the only way to get out of this rut is to get a win. Easier said than done, mind you.

Anyway, chin up! We've got Hornets basketball after a couple of nights off. Hop to the comments to chat about tonight's game!
