Monday Mourning Mailbag Ep.14: Why the Fast Start?

What accounts for the Hornets strong showing to start the season?

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Despite dropping their last two contests, the Hornets are 6-3, good enough for fourth in the Eastern conference and second in the Southwest division.

Traditionally this is not the Hornets’ MO. In the past they’ve managed to dig themselves in early season holes, only to hit stride around the All-Star game and make a late play for postseason contention.

However this year something seems to be different. But what exactly? Let’s take a closer look.

So, as always, if you have a burning question you need answered, a keen comment that needs discussing, or just generally think all of us here are clueless and in desperate need of your Hornets and/or basketball expertise...
