The Charlotte Hornets have assigned Aaron Harrison and Christian Wood to their NBA D-League affiliate the Greensboro Swarm, according to a statement from the team:

This was always coming. Neither Harrison or Wood were figuring into the rotation, so the sensible thing was to send both to the team’s new D-League affiliate. Both players need meaningful minutes, and this will be their first opportunity of the season to get that.
The timing of it makes sense, as the Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell pointed out:
Sending Harrison and Wood to Greensboro now makes sense, with the @hornets playing eight games in the next 12 days.

The Hornets won’t practice much at all during this stretch, which means Harrison and Wood wouldn’t see action even off the court. And should an injury on the Hornets roster occur, both are only two hours away. More than likely, one or both could find themselves recalled back and forth while this assignment plays out.
