The Charlotte Hornets play the Washington Wizards this afternoon in what should be an exciting affair. The Hornets are in it to win it –– rest isn't an option if they want better positioning in the playoffs –– and the Wizards are playing for pride. The Hornets currently sit in the sixth seed and can't fall any lower, but a win would put them in the race for the third seed.
Jeremy Lamb's been upgraded to questionable for this afternoon's game, making Michael Kidd-Gilchrist the only Hornet not technically available. A few Hornets are playing through minor injuries (check out Jeremy Lin's SnapChat some time, his elbow looks gross), but for the most part the team is healthy and ready for the playoffs.
The Wizards were officially knocked out of playoff contention in their loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday. John Wall, Markieff Morris and co. aren't happy about that. Let's hope they don't take out their frustrations on the Hornets.
This game is certainly winnable. The Wizards struggle to defend the 3-point line effectively, and if the Hornets heat up from behind the arc this could be over relatively quickly. Still, the Wizards are loaded with dynamic players capable of exploding for big nights.
Tip off is at 12 p.m.
