Who: Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets
When: 7:00 PM est
Where: TimeWarner Cable Arena
TV: Fox Sports Southeast, YES Network
With a win tonight the Hornets can clinch no worse than sixth place in the East for the playoffs. While it seems pretty likely that they're going to finish the season somewhere between the six and three spots it's always a great thing to not have that extra stress worrying about falling to an even lower and more difficult seed.
As for the opponent, everybody knows the drill on this by now. The Nets have decided to shut down most, if not all, of their veterans so they can get a look at some of their young players, get them minutes, and rest guys like Brook Lopez in a lost season. It's disappointing for Brooklyn considering they don't have a draft pick, but a rebuild has to start somewhere. Luckily, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is fun when he's healthy, and Bojan Bogdanovic will be playing tonight providing some more entertainment.
For the Hornets, as long as they play their game it should be a victory for them. Nicolas Batum has been listed as questionable, and usually this would be a case of just get him the rest considering the opponnet, but Brooklyn has played the Hornets tight in their last couple meetings. While the Hornets are more than capable of beating them without Batum it might be worth at least activating him to help the offense run a little better, and then just play him on reduced minutes.
Another game worth paying attention as this one is going on will be the Indiana Pacers up against the Toronto Raptors. If the Hornets were to lose tonight they would still clinch a spot no worse than sixth if the Pacers lost to Toronto.
