After missing the first two games of the Hornets’ new season to deal with a family matter, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is back.
The Hornets’ PR account notified fans on Twitter.

Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reported a few days ago that MKG’s absence was due to the recent passing of his grandmother and that he’d likely return to the team within a week. Looks like he was right.

I can’t speak for Mike, but I’d have a difficult time returning to work so soon after the death of a loved one and an even more difficult time staying focused and performing at my best.
So kudos to him for a hasty return. At the same time, I’d have no problem with him taking some more time to process his grandmother’s sudden passing.
The Hornets have really missed MKG. They’ve resorted to starting rookie Dwayne Bacon—yes, puns—and while he’s performed well, the team’s second unit has been abysmal. What MKG does for the team’s depth...man.
So welcome back, Mike! You’ve been missed.
