The Charlotte Hornets tip-off the NBA season against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 17th (we’re so close, I know). Tonight, however, the Hornets take on 3rd-overall pick Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in their final preseason game.

The Mavericks are 1-1 in their previous two preseason games, both of which are against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Like the last team they played in the Chicago Bulls, the Mavericks have a promising young core that includes Dennis Smith, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Kostas Antetokounmpo, and the aforementioned Doncic.

Tonight’s game is bound to be interesting. The Hornets are 3-1 in the preseason, and Miles Bridges has been spectacular. He is averaging 12 points, six rebounds, one assist, and is shooting 50 percent from 3. In other words, the NBA might as well just hand him the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year award (too soon, maybe?).

That said, we may not see as much of him tonight. The Hornets may opt to play more of the training camp roster and players vying for a spot in the rotation (or a spot in Greensboro). Bridges and the regular rotation should play, just don’t be surprised if they are pulled early in the second half.

Anyways, you should make sure to catch the game on Friday night, especially with real, non-preseason basketball being only days away.
