With the Charlotte Hornets season officially underway, we mustn’t forget about their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

The team announced their training camp roster for the 2018-2019 season which opens November 2nd against the Wisconsin Herd. You may be surprised the amount of familarity on the roster.

The two obvious guys are Hornets two-way players J.P. Macura and Joe Chealey, both of whom will see significant time in Greensboro while developing their game.

You can’t forget about the team’s two draft choices: Chinanu Onauku, and Tyler Nelson. These two will most likely be on the team’s starting lineup come opening night. The combo should provide the most consistency out of the group.

The mainstay from last year’s team is none other than Luke Petrasek. I covered Petrasek a while back and discussed his overall game as a stretch four. He should be one of the few bigs on the team who can take their game to the outside.

Last but not least, there are the Hornets training camp players. Texas Tech forward Zach Smith, as well as Virginia’s Isaiah Wilkins, have proved to the Hornets organization that they have potential. As such, they’ve been assigned to the organization’s G League team to test themselves against the league’s competition.

In all, I’m still skeptical about this roster. There aren’t much floor spacers on the wings nor in the front court, which his totally against what Hornets’ new style of play. The good news is that the team has a plethora of athletic players, who should replicate the style of modern basketball.
