Miles Bridges will compete in the 2019 dunk contest

Not surprising.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Charlotte Hornets rookie Miles Bridges will be in the dunk contest as part of NBA All Star Weekend.

It’s only surprising so far as it’s rare to see Hornets players not named Kemba Walker get any national recognition. But Bridges is certainly a qualified candidate. Case in points:

You get the idea.

Early indications are that he’ll compete against John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks and Derrick Jones Jr. of the Miami Heat. I assume there’s one more name coming, because there are always four contestants in the event.

Bridges has a very real chance to win the contest. He’s more power than finesse, but there’s something about a man that size soaring through the air that’s dumbfounding. I’ve said it before, no NBA player makes me laugh at the absurdity of their physical feats more than Miles Bridges does. I’m excited to see what he can do with the world watching.
