What: Charlotte Hornets vs. Philadelphia 76ers
When: 7:30 pm EDT
Where: Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum; Wintson-Salem, NC
How to watch: Fox Sports Southeast, NBA League Pass
Our favorite crew of Hornets broadcasters are finally back from summer vacation, so we won’t have to be subjected to away team announcers (unless you’re into that sort of thing.)
Tonight’s game is in Winston-Salem, which will make for an interesting atmosphere. Nicolas Batum and Cody Martin are likely out for the Hornets. Joel Embiid is out for the 76ers. We’ll probably see more of PJ Washington, who is forcing James Borrego’s hand as it pertains to his spot in the rotation.
The Hornets will try to bounce back from a hideous showing against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. It can’t get any worse, right? We can only hope. They played respectably against Boston, so we know they have it in them.
The 76ers have only played one preseason game, against the Guangzhou Long-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association. They won by 58 points, which is to be expected when your opponent’s superstar player is Andrew Nicholson.
The main story line for this game is whether or not Ben Simmons will make a 3-pointer against an actual NBA team. He made his only attempt against the Long-Lions, the first he’s ever made in a professional game of any kind. Now he’ll have to prove he can do that against NBA defenders.
