Charlotte Hornets center Cody Zeller will be wearing a special pair of shoes for tonight’s contest against the Boston Celtics. It will be the first of five games where Zeller will wear customized sneakers for his Kicks for Kids campaign, bringing awareness to his new Like a Child Foundation.
The goal of the foundation is “to help kids make the most of their childhood and to help adults return to their childlike joy, curiosity, and innocence.” As part of the campaign, Zeller will partner with five different charities over the course of the season, and I’m assuming each one will be marked with a different pair of shoes.
Tonight’s reunion with Kemba Walker provides a perfect opportunity to start the campaign. Zeller’s shoes will be donned with drawings and messages from four mentees that Walker mentored with Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Carolinas during his time in Charlotte.
