This is it, the last game before the All Star Break. The Hornets won’t have another game for eight days after tonight, so it’s vital that they get a win. They don’t want the sour taste of a loss to linger.

The Hornets will take on their old pal Steve Clifford and his Orlando Magic for the third time this season. The first two meetings went as well as the Hornets could want, with the Hornets triumphing by at least 25 points both times. That doesn’t mean tonight’s game will be a walk in the park.

The Magic are hot. They’ve six of their last seven games, including each of their last four. The streak includes a 20 point win in Milwaukee and a 30 point win in New Orleans. They’ve won games with their defense. Their 100.0 defensive rating over their last seven is bettered only by the Indiana Pacers.

As has been the case all season, Nikola Vucevic has been the engine that drives the Magic. During this hot stretch of play, he’s averaging 19.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. Terrence Ross and Evan Fournier are each averaging at least 16 points per game and hitting a couple 3-pointers per game.

The Hornets have won 13 straight games against the Magic. Something’s gotta give tonight. Hopefully it’s the Magic’s winning streak. The Hornets need this win.
