Hornets can move into the sixth seed with a win over the Nets

This is the third out of four meeting between two teams vying for the sixth seed in the playoff.s

What: Charlotte Hornets (28-30) vs. Brooklyn Nets (30-30)

Where: Spectrum Center; Charlotte, Nc

How to watch: Fox Sports Southeast, NBA League Pass

The Hornets are coming off a strong final three quarters against the Wizards. The Nets are coming off a loss to the Trail Blazers. Since the Hornets are technically only one game back of the Nets, a win tonight will give them the sixth seed in the playoff race.

The Nets have cooled significantly after a scorching stretch of play vaulted them into the playoff picture. They’ve lost six of their last eight games and their offense has slowed down. Over that eight game stretch, the Nets rank 26th in offensive rating and 18th in defensive rating.

Their struggles coincide with the absence of Sixth Man of the Year candidate Spencer Dinwiddie. The team’s second leading scorer is out for the foreseeable future with torn ligaments in his thumb.

A win tonight gives the Hornets a chance to clinch the season series in a couple weeks in Brooklyn. A win tonight would be huge.
