The Charlotte Hornets are once again going to take part in the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League this summer, the team announced yesterday. It’s not surprising news. All 30 NBA teams were their last year, and the Hornets were of course one of those 30. They’ll all be back again this year, but there are a couple of changes.

The big one is the addition of two new and very special teams. The Chinese and Croatian national teams will take part in the league, the first time two international teams have done so.

The other change is a slight tweak to the format. Instead of teams playing three round robin games and then taking part in a giant tournament, they will play four round robin games, with the top eight teams advancing to a single elimination tournament. The teams not making the tournament will get one consolation game, meaning every team is guaranteed at least five games.

The Summer League will we played from July 5th through July 15th. The exact game schedule will probably come out some time in June.
