The Hornets will be a part of the first regular season NBA game played in France.

The NBA announced that, for the first time ever, they will feature a regular season game in France. It just so happens that the Charlotte Hornets are one of the teams slated to play in that game.

The Hornets will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in Paris on January 24, 2020. Assuming Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum both return next season, the Hornets are a natural fit to be featured in Paris, as they lead the league in French players.

The NBA has played 10 exhibitions in France previously. The Hornets played their in 1994, and Hornets owner Michael Jordan played their with the Bulls in 1997. He commented on the Hornets going overseas to play:

Having played in the preseason in France during my career, I witnessed first-hand the passion the French fans have for NBA basketball. We are excited to bring our team to Paris for this history-making event.

This game will be a major quirk in the Hornets schedule. January 24th is a Friday, and the game will likely be played sometime in the early afternoon. The Wizards and Knicks played in London earlier this season, and that game started at 3:00 p.m. eastern time. The Hornets will probably also get an extended layoff both before and after the game.

What are your thoughts on this news? Excited? Indifferent? Extremely upset?
