A few things have happened in Charlotte Hornets world over the last few days. Here’s a quick rundown.
- Kemba Walker is part of the 20 player training camp roster for Team USA’s entry into the FIBA World Cup. He, Kyle Lowry, and Damian Lillard are the only three point guards on the roster, so there’s a good chance he makes the final roster.
- According to Ian Begley of SNY.tv, Walker is expected to remain with the Hornets should they offer him a max contract. Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks are all interested in Walker’s services, but the Knicks and Lakers don’t seem to be on his radar.
- Marvin Williams officially opted into the final year of his contract. He said during his exit interviews that there was a 100% chance that he was going to opt in, so this comes as no surprise.
- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist underwent surgery to address a nagging groin injury. He’s expected to recovered in time for training camp. Kidd-Gilchrist hasn’t picked up his player option for next season, but the expectation seems to be that he’ll pick it up and be back with the Hornets next season.
