Hornets hosting their seventeenth pre-draft workout on Tuesday (updated)

The Hornets are cramming in preparation for the draft on Thursday by hosting twelve players on Tuesday.

The draft is just days away, but the Charlotte Hornets aren’t done bringing in prospects for workouts. Tuesday’s workout features a whopping twelve players.

The participants:

  • Matt Mooney, Guard, Texas Tech
  • Matur Maker, Forward, Zlatorog Lasko (Slovenia)
  • Goga Bitadze, Center, Mega Vizura (Serbia)
  • Jeremiah Martin, Guard, Memphis
  • Brandon Randolph, Guard, Arizona
  • Tyus Battle, Guard, Syracuse
  • Luguentz Dort, Guard, Arizona State
  • Talen Horton-Tucker, Guard, Iowa State
  • Nick Mayo, Forward, Eastern Kentucky
  • Zach Norvell Jr., Guard, Gonzaga
  • Juwan Morgan, Forward, Indiana
  • Justin James, Guard, Wyoming

Goga Bitadze is the headliner of the group and is in play for the Hornets pick at twelve overall.

Luguentz Dort and Talen Horton-Tucker are both prime candidates for the Hornets selection at 36 (and both are candidates in our community mock). Tyus Battle, Zach Norvell Jr., and Justin James are probably candidates at 52.

With this workout, the Hornets have now worked out 111 players. There’s a good chance that’s the final number, as I don’t recall a team ever holding workouts the day before the draft.

Update: The total number of prospects worked out is actually 110. Two players were replaced in today’s workout, one by Torin Dorn, who is working out with the team for the second time.
