Kemba Walker expected to reach agreement with Celtics when free agency opens, per reports

It’s a dark day for Charlotte basketball.

Welp. It sounds like Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker will reach an agreement with the Boston Celtics when free agency opens Sunday evening.

I think you get the point.

Deals can be agreed upon starting at 6:00 p.m. Easter on Sunday, but nothing can be made official until noon July 6th, so things can still change. There’s a minuscule chance that actually happens, but I’ll open that door for you if you want to cling to hope for another few days.

If Walker does indeed leave Charlotte, the Hornets will instantly turn into a contender for a top lottery spot at the end of next season. Word is the Hornets are looking at free agents like Elfrid Peyton, T.J. McConnell, Ish Smith, and Emmanuel Mudiay, all of whom are decidedly not as good as Kemba Walker. Dark days are ahead.

It’s hard to be mad at Kemba for making this decision. He’s given his heart and soul to this organization and has been rewarded with no team success to speak of. I’ll be rooting for Kemba individually, but I don’t want Boston to do well because those sports fans get all of the nice things. Talk about a fandom pickle.
