What: Charlotte Hornets (0-0) vs. Golden State Warriors (0-0)
When: 9:00 p.m. EDT
Where: Cox Pavilion; Las Vegas, NV
How to watch: NBATV, FuboTV
Hey look at this. We have a basketball game to watch tonight. The Hornets will take on the Warriors on the opening night of the MGM Resorts Las Vegas Summer League.
It’ll be our first chance to get a look at rookies Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels, though we’ll miss out on seeing first round pick PJ Washington. Martin is expected to play both at the point and off the ball. It’ll be interesting to see how well he can run an offense at the professional level.
Veterans Miles Bridges and Dwayne Bacon are back to get a few more reps, but I wouldn’t be surprised if their Summer League action is limited. Head coach James Borrego said that he expects Bridges to play more power forward next season, so that’s likely where we’ll see him play the bulk of his minutes tonight. Borrego said he wants to see Bacon develop more as a distributor, so he’ll be put in a lot of play making positions this summer to see how he responds.
For their part, the Warriors don’t have much appeal to the casual observer, especially after Jimmer Fredette left the team. Their roster is full of late first and second round picks and no one with an especially distinguished college resume. This game is all about the Hornets.
