The Hornets are coming off a strong overall performance against the Warriors in their Summer League opener. Dwayne Bacon led all scorers with 25 points while Devonte’ Graham scored 21 with some impressive 3-point shooting. Miles Bridges chipped in a solid floor game with 13 points and seven rebounds.
As of this writing, there is no word on whether or not the Hornets with NBA experience will play on Sunday. If they do, all of them need to show development in different aspects. Bacon needs to show more as a passer, Bridges more as a shooter, and Graham more as an interior finisher.
The Spurs are coming off a brutal opening game in Las Vegas after playing well in the Utah Summer League. Lonnie Walker IV continued his stellar play with 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting and Drew Eubanks scored 15 on 5-of-5 shooting, but the rest of the Spurs combined for just 16 points on 7-of-29 shooting. The team didn’t make a single 3-pointer on ten attempts.
The Hornets will have a chance to build on their strong finish on Friday night against a Spurs team that’s light on NBA experience. If they play well, there’s a good chance it’ll be the last time we see Bridges, Bacon, and maybe Graham before the Hornets open training camp in September.
