Hornets unveil new City Edition court to match uniforms

New, comments

They always nail these things.

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Sacramento Kings Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Charlotte Hornets have unveiled a new City Edition court to match the City Edition jerseys they released the other day, and much like the jerseys, this court design is absolutely fire.

The court matches the mint, granite, and gold color scheme on the team’s City uniforms. It also has the ‘coin ridge’ surrounding the court, which is used as the pinstripes on the uniform. It also pays homage to Trade and Tryon, the intersection in the heart of uptown Charlotte that functions as the de facto center of the city. And the arc is entirely filled in mint, and we know how much Hornets fans loved filled-in 3-point arcs.

The Hornets seem to nail just about every branding decision they make, and this court and the jerseys that accompany it are no exception. It’s a cool way to pay homage to the city’s banking history and roots while offering a change up from the purple and teal we see the majority of the time.
