The Charlotte Hornets have selected guard LaMelo Ball with the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Many view Ball as the most talented player in the draft, and he was frequently projected to go number one overall to the Timberwolves. The fact that the Hornets got him with the third pick is an absolute steal, and one that I hoped would come to fruition when I selected him in SB Nation’s mock draft last week.

Ball will be an interesting fit in the Hornets back court alongside Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier. He has enough size to share the floor with both of them at the same time if he buys in defensively, and his play making should open up both of them to get more buckets.

Off the court, Ball is the most high profile prospect in the draft. If nothing else, he’ll bring some attention and notoriety to the Hornets, which is something we always root for.
