Here’s another week’s worth of Hornets interviews with draft prospects

New, comments

There are a couple second round guys and a lot that probably won’t get drafted.

NCAA Basketball: Texas Tech at Baylor Raymond Carlin III-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been about a week since we posted a bunch of prospect interviews conducted by the Charlotte Hornets. They’ve been churning them out, so we’ll get you caught up. Pretty much all of the prospects were asked how they’re handling the pre-draft process and how they’d fit with the Hornets. The notes for each prospect reflect what else they talk about.

CJ Elleby, G/F, Washigton State

Elleby talks about his jump to All PAC 12 as a sophomore, his outside shot, the Seattle basketball scene, and his dad’s influence on his career.

Ashton Hagans, G, Kentucky

Hagans talks about his impact as a defender, what he’s hoping to show NBA scouts, his relationship with PJ Washington, and how John Calipari has helped him with the process.

Xavier Tillman, C, Michigan State

Tillman talks about his improvement over his three years at Michigan State, his calling card in the NBA, playing under Tom Izzo, and Miles Bridges.

Nate Hinton, G, Houston

Hinton talks about working out at home in Gastonia, the Houston culture, and potentially playing for his hometown team.

Kahlil Whitney, F, Kentucky

Whitney talks about where he’s improved his game, coming from Chicago, and his father’s impact. I wish Sam Perley would’ve asked who told him it was a good idea to enter the draft after he fell out of Kentucky’s rotation halfway through his freshman season. It’s an interesting decision.

Josh Hall, F, Moravian Prep

Hall talks about jumping from prep school straight into the NBA Draft, what parts of his game he thinks will translate to the NBA, and his travels during his prep career.

Sam Froling, C, Illawara Hawks (Australia)

Froling talks about playing one year of college basketball before returning to Australia to play professionally, the Australian basketball scene, playing with LaMelo Ball, and his basketball family.

Jahmi’us Ramsey, G, Texas Tech

Ramsey talks about his freshman season at Texas Tech, his leadership role there, his outside shooting, and the part of his game he thinks gets overlooked the most.

EJ Montgomery, F/C, Kentucky

Montgomery talks about where he improved the most over his two years at Kentucky, playing his role under John Calipari, and his relationship with PJ Washington.

Trevelin Queen, G/F, New Mexico State

Queen talks about the energy he plays with, his improvement as a shooter, the New Mexico State culture, and his long, winding journey to get to this point.

Freddie Gillepsie, F/C, Baylor

Gillespie talks about how he’s been creative with his workouts over the last few months, his unlikely journey to this point, what he brings to the NBA, and the Baylor program.

Mason Jones, G, Arkansas

Jones talks about his standout sophomore season, his journey, and the help he’s gotten from his older brother.
