Recap: Hornets Drop Back to Back Games; Lebron Lifts Lakers Over Hornets 105-116

Charlotte loses another one.

Charlotte drops another west coast road game as they are struggling on this trip.

The 1st half was up and down for Charlotte as they dug themselves into an early hole with some sloppy play. Charlotte had 10 turnovers in the 1st half which the Lakers capitalized on to build an early lead. The Lakers offense came out hot led by Lebron James came with authority to start in the 1st quarter James scored 13 points in 8 minutes just 5 points shy of his season high (17) in a single quarter. Dennis Schroder also made his presence felt with 10 points and steal.

The Hornets were lucky to be going into the half only down 15. Charlotte went cold in the 2nd quarter as they just were not making shots and the defense wasn’t any much better.

Charlotte ended the 1st half shooting 21% from the 3 point-line and 55% from the FT line. PJ Washington and Terry Rozier led the way with 10 points apiece keeping Charlotte afloat in this one. Gordon Hayward struggled only having 2 points at halftime.

This one looked like it was getting away from The Hornets until the 3rd quarter the Charlotte offense put together a 19-4 run to tie the game 64-64 as Charlotte was able to capitalize on the Lakers struggling offense. LaMelo Ball came alive with 8 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the 3rd quarter. The Hornets outscored the Lakers 33-24 in the 3rd quarter and cut the deficient down to just 4 going into the 4th quarter 83-79.

The Hornets made a strong push at the end of this game but came up short down the stretch. LaMelo Ball started heating up in the 4th quarter as he poured in 12 points and 6 assists in the quarter. LaMelo Ball dominated and ended the game with 26 points leading all scorers for the Hornets.

Lebron James became too much for Charlotte down the stretch. James was doing just about everything for the Lakers to close the 4th quarter, he had his fingers all over this win for Los Angeles. The Hornets had no answer on defense for Lebron he ended the game with 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Charlotte ended the game with 19 turnovers which was not the only reason for this loss but a factor that made it hard for Charlotte to really get back into this game.

Charlotte drops another game that’s back-to-back losses for them. The Hornets are now back at .500 and have another road game coming up against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Hornets have stumbled out the gate on this west coast trip especially Gordon Hayward who puts up another quiet game with 7 points. Charlotte is going to need Hayward to figure it out quick for the rest of this road trip.
