The Charlotte Hornets stay making moves. They have traded a future first round pick to move up to the 19th pick, where they selected Kai Jones out of Texas.
The Hornets gave up a heavily protected future first that could convert to two seconds if not conveyed in a few years. In essence, the Hornets traded a future late teens pick for a current late teens pick.

Will turn into 2 future 2's if not conveyed
Jones is a super athletic big out of Texas with a tantalizing skill set. He can protect the rim and also has the mobility to defend on the perimeter. He’s shown flashes of outside shooting to go along with tremendous potential as a vertical spacer. He needs some time to develop, but that’s what Mason Plumlee is here for. And what do you know, it’s another college sophomore.
Jones joins James Bouknight as first round picks for the Hornets tonight in what is shaping up to be an excellent draft for them. They’ve filled holes in the front court and on the wing with athleticism and very high upside.
What grade do you give the Hornets for their selection of Kai Jones at 19th overall?
