Due to the Mason Plumlee/JT Thor trade not being made official until August 6, Thor isn’t listed on the roster but it’s presumed that he will be on the team as well. LiAngelo Ball, James Bouknight and Kai Jones highlight the newcomers while Vernon Carey Jr., Nate Darling, Arnoldas Kulboka, Nick Richards, Grant Riller and Xavier Sneed all have varying levels of experience with the organization.
DJ Carton, a native of Pineville, N.C, was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract as an undrafted free agent out of Marquette and should feature prominently in Vegas — he’s an athletic guard that attacks the rim and creates advantages. Cameron McGriff was a four-year man at Oklahoma State where he played alongside Cade Cunningham last season. Denzel Mahoney and Kenny Williams are also four-year college veterans looking to get a crack at the NBA.
The Hornets, led by assistant coach Dutch Gaitley, will begin Summer League play on August 8 at 6:00 PM EST against the Portland Trail Blazers. The games will be broadcast on NBATV or ESPNU and will take place between August 8 and 14. If you’re able to tune in, I’d highly recommend doing so. This should be one of the most entertaining teams in Vegas this year and the environment should be electric after last year’s cancellation.
